Augustine Kidisil



Augustine practices with Kimathi & Partner’s Dispute Resolution, Energy and Maritime law department. Recently ranked as a Next Generation Lawyer by The Legal 500, Augustine co-heads the firm’s litigation team and runs some of the firm’s bigger litigation cases. His practice has included a varied representation of multinational corporations in a variety of industries throughout Ghana in connection with corporate governance litigation, admiralty and shipping, telecommunications litigation, intellectual property litigation, and labour disputes. Augustine’s cases have included successful defense of a multinational mining company against an adverse claim to its mineral right; defense of one of the world’s largest oil field service companies in a NEC 3 contractual dispute; defense of Africa’s leading independent oil exploration and production company against a significant and novel tort claim; defense of Google Inc. and Google Ghana Limited against a first-of-its kind online defamation claim in Ghana; defending a multinational telecommunications company in an intellectual property dispute, and acting for a multinational telecommunications company in two cases against the National Communications Authority before the Electronic Communications Tribunal. Augustine also has extensive experience in advising multinational companies on compliance with Ghana’s local content requirements in the petroleum sector, and has delivered presentations at international conferences on topical issues in international arbitration, oil and gas, and shipping in Africa. In addition to the TGSS Award for his LL.M in Maritime Law (Soton), Augustine also received the Swiss SECO award for his Master of International Law and Economics degree from the World Trade Institute, Bern. Augustine’s professional memberships include Ghana Bar Association, Young International Arbitration Group, and Young ICSID.
